Background. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that attack many systems and organs of human body and has a variety of clinical symptoms. One indicator that can be used to measure the severity of SLE activity is MEX-SLEDAI scores and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Both of them increased because of inflammation This study was conducted to find out about the correlation between the levels of erythrocyte sedimentation rate and MEX-SLEDAI scores in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus at internal medicine department of RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang.
Methods. This study is an observational-analytic research with cross-sectional design. The sample of this study is SLE patient at internal medicine department of RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in August-December 2016. Analysis in this research is using Spearman’s Correlation Test, which is significant when (p>0,05). There are 32 subjects who meet the criteria.
Results. Out of 32 subjects, showed as 6 (18,8%) people had normal level of erythrocyte sedimentation rate while 26 (81,3%) people had higher level of erythrocyte sedimentation rate. In measurement using MEX-SLEDAI score obtained 15 (46,9%) people had a mild degree of disease activity followed by 9 (28,1%) people had a moderate degree and 8 (25,0%) people had a severe degree. There were no significant correlation between erythrocyte sedimentation rate levels and MEX-SLEDAI scores (p=0,847).
Conclusion. There were no significant correlation between erythrocyte sedimentation rate levels and MEX-SLEDAI scores.
